Matthew Kearney

Strategic Advisor

Matthew served as CCF’s executive director from 2022-2025. Before becoming ED, he served as the Programs Manager for 4 years. He has diverse experience in using enrichment activities as a vehicle for youth development in the U.S., Asia, and Africa. Matthew is also enthusiastic about sports, exploring new cities, and hip-hop culture.

 

Luke Atkinson

Development & Communications Director

Luke is a long-time community advocate and nonprofit professional. Originally from Oklahoma, he has served in youth development in both the arts & sciences, as well as family support services. He earned his MPA in 2020, with an emphasis on urban development and nonprofit administration. Luke has a passion for learning and having too many hobbies.

 

darryl turnbow

Programs Director

Darryl is a lifelong chess player, creative strategist, and community builder. A proud CPS graduate, he grew up playing chess in school tournaments. Before joining CCF, he spent a decade producing video content and campaigns for creative agencies and tech companies. Darryl now brings that strategic lens to youth programming, with a special focus on expanding access to chess in Chicago’s South and West Sides. He is passionate about equity, storytelling, and the ways chess helps young people grow.

 

Camilla Mehdaoui

Programs Manager

Mia is a lifelong chess player and youth mentor. Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, she has called Chicago home for nearly a decade. Mia has coached chess for the past three years and is passionate about creating learning environments where young people can build confidence, critical thinking skills, and meaningful connections. Outside of CCF, Mia enjoys biking around the city, painting, swimming, and competing in online blitz games.
