Matthew Kearney

Executive Director

Matthew became CCF’s 3rd Executive Director in April 2022. Before becoming ED, he served as the Programs Manager for 4 years. He has diverse experience in using enrichment activities as a vehicle for youth development in the U.S., Asia, and Africa. Matthew is also enthusiastic about sports, exploring new cities, and hip-hop culture.

 

Luke Atkinson

Development & Communications Director

Luke is a long-time community advocate and nonprofit professional. Originally from Oklahoma, he has served in youth development in both the arts & sciences, as well as family support services. He earned his MPA in 2020, with an emphasis on urban development and nonprofit administration. Luke has a passion for learning and having too many hobbies.

 

darryl turnbow

Programs Director

Darryl is a lifelong chess player, creative strategist, and community builder. A proud CPS graduate, he grew up playing chess in school tournaments. Before joining CCF, he spent a decade producing video content and campaigns for creative agencies and tech companies. Darryl now brings that strategic lens to youth programming, with a special focus on expanding access to chess in Chicago’s South and West Sides. He is passionate about equity, storytelling, and the ways chess helps young people grow.

 

SAHIL TRIPURANA

Program Manager

Sahil is a data scientist and University of Illinois at Chicago graduate. During his undergrad, he found his passion for playing and teaching chess with the university’s chess club. Sahil’s experience as an instructor at the St. Louis Chess Club gave him a deep understanding of the game’s scholastic importance to the youth. Sahil also enjoys tennis and playing musical instruments to keep himself busy.
