In collaboration with the University of Illinois Chicago chess team, as part of the national learning festival, Remake Learning Days, CCF is happy to announce its first ever online Simul event. We will be hosting this event online on the LiChess Platform.

At 10:30 am on Saturday May 15th, our Simul hosts will login to begin their respective Simuls. Students will have their choice as to which simul they would like to join, and which host they would like to play against. However, once a host’s Simul has 15 competitors or at 10:35am sharp, the Simul will begin immediately.

Joining Our LiChess Team:

To access the Chicago Chess Foundation official LiChess team please follow the instructions below:

1.) Create a LiChess Account (See video below)

2.) From the LiChess home screen (https://lichess.org/) hover over the “Community” tab at the top of the screen and select “Teams”.

3.) On the teams page, select “All teams” from the left option bar. Enter “Chicago Chess Foundation” into the search bar on the All Teams page.

4.) Select the “Chicago Chess Foundation” team to be directed to the official CCF LiChess team page.

5.) At the official CCF team page, click on the green “Join Team” button.

6.) In the “Join Team” page, you will be prompted to add a message. Please ensure that your message includes your name, your grade and your school name. Then click the blue “Join Team” button.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you have requested to join CCF’s team. An administrator for the team will approve your request ASAP. Find the below videos for further instructions:

Joining the Simul:

You have the ability to join the simul starting at 10:15am on May 15th:

1.) After joining the LiChess Team, go to the team homepage at: https://lichess.org/team/chicago-chess-foundation

2.) In the right column you will see a list of headers, and one will be “Simultaneous Exhibitions”. Under this header, you will see all your options of simuls to join on May 15th. Click on the host’s event that you would like to challenge.

3.) Clicking on your hosts simul will take you to the simul page. Here you will just need to click the blue button in the top right hand corner of the screen. This will register you for the simul and you will be paired in your match once the simul begins. - To make sure you are registered, make sure that your Lichess screen name pops up on the list of the simul after you click the blue “Join” button.
